The baby sling has become a popular accessory for hip and trendy mums. The latest to hit the market is Littlepods, developed by a real-life mum whose baby could not sleep unless he was carroed. "Front carriers made my shoulders so sore and I hated the messy look of ring slings and the way my baby's head kept hitting the rings," says Joanne Ho, a Pilates instructor specialising in pre- and postnatal fitness. "I then came across the 'pouch' type sling which I fell in love with instantly. It was so easy to use and more importantly, my baby loved it!" Ho soon adapted the fabric and sizes to suit the Malaysian market and thus Littlepods was born last month. The sling is designed to spread the weight of the baby evenly between the shoulder and hip to minimise back and shoulder strain. It comes in six colours, with funkier prints in the pipeline. The Littlepods sling also folds up compactly in your diaper bag. There are no rings, straps, buckles or adjustments, but it does come with a pocket and toy ring. Made from stretch cotton in a variety of sizes the sling can be used on newborns and babies up to 15kg, in three carrying positions.
